Frequently Asked Questions
Why is there a 9 month minimum?
Well if I didn’t do it this way, you could theoretically get a site built in a month, I eat that time sink, get one payment, then poof! The customer decides to leave and I just built a 2200 dollar website for 99 bucks. Doesn’t sound like much of a business does it?
In short, I don’t charge you thousands of dollars upfront. I take on that initial cost myself to keep your barrier to entry low.
What Happens If I Do Not Pay The Monthly Subscription Fee? Will I Lose My Site?
Yes and No…
-I understand that slow seasons do exist, and unexpected things can happen! At 50 percent off current rate, the homepage will remain active, however, all other pages will be set to private until paid in full. Upon reinstatement, the full price will be collected, regardless of when the previous payment took place.
– If 50 percent is still out of the budget, a hosting fee of $29 will be collected monthly, however, all pages will be set to private until payment resumes in full.
-Pages will be set to private at intervals of 7 days upon late payments. In order of timeline, at 7 days missed, all except the homepage will be set to private. At another 7 days all pages, including homepage will be set to private. At 30 days, if no payment has been collected the site will be taken down.
What Changes Can I Actually Request To My Site?
Text changes, picture swaps, price changes, new review highlights etc. are all on the table. However, additional sections and new pages are not included unless agreed upon before deployment of the site. New additional pages can either mean a one time fee of $75 each, or a need to upgrade site plans for monthly payments, depending on where your already at. Generally lower tier subscriptions will mean higher payment for additions.
This may seem a bit odd when thinking about it in terms of one site, however, with 20 plus sites these safeguards become an absolute necessity. This protects me from getting taken advantage of while keeping optimal resources available for the customers who really need it.
Do I Own My Website?
Yes. Unlike rental platforms like Wix or Squarespace, I build on Bricks, which is a professional, open-sourced framework. You have two paths to full ownership:
Subscription: After 9 months of your subscription, each payment will be month to month if you choose to stay. If you ever want to leave, you can absolutely buy out the site (monthly payments do not roll over if you choose this). If you decide the site is no longer worth the money without a buyout, the site does absolutely stay with me, but your domain is absolutely yours regardless of circumstances, I will never hold that hostage (Looking at you everyone else…). If you simply want a lower monthly, you can always do a buyout, then just host with me for a smaller fee. Easy!
Lump Sum: If you want full ownership from day one, I offer a lump-sum buyout option. Contact me for details, I will need much more information before the initial site is live. $2200 is for a full standard site. Hosting and maintenance would be $29 per month. Add unlimited edits for $50 per month, for a grand total of $79 monthly.
What's With The Name Red Moon Web Design?
Well Red (Blood) Moons are great, are they not? In all seriousness I needed a name that could blend my sense of creative spirit with something tangible and semi normal enough to be taken seriously. I could have gone the SEO route and just called it best Texas web designer or something silly and generic, but that is simply not me. Enter Red Moon Web Design.
I am a father to a ridiculously great child in the morning, a normal working adult in the middle of the day, and a web designer at night. As of writing this 90% of the work I have put in to html, css, wordpress, design, and site building has been done between the hours of 11:30 p.m. and 2:30 a.m. Its been this way for years at this point, so the idea of designing websites under a red moon made absolute sense as I have literally done this many times. The name essentially created itself. My SO actually swears I came up with the name during a blood moon, as the night before I told her about my new moniker, there was indeed a blood moon.
